Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
