Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
